Guys, Allanté isn’t just for women. We also offer plenty of services for guys too. Because we service men as well, today’s post is for the guys. Today, Allanté wants to talk to you guys about how to maintain your facial hair.
In a previous post we talked about some general guidelines to see if growing out your beard would be considered professional or not professional. If you missed that post or would like a reminder, the three pointers we suggest you consider are seeing if it is acceptable in you industry / company, considering if there is an important occasion coming up (i.e. interview or business meeting), and making sure you are maintaining it properly.
What Facial Hair Looks Professional?
So, let’s say that you have decided that keeping that fuzz on your face is professional. Your question is probably, what is acceptable?
Well, as we touched a bit on in the previous post, the long unmanaged cuts are just plain BAD. Yeah, you might think the long wild and untamed beard is cool, but it isn’t at the office. If you want to keep your facial hair, you need to keep it shorter. Generally, a stubble to medium length is considered appropriate.
Managing A Professional Look
Now, let’s talk about how to manage it. One thing you should do is comb your facial hair just as you would normally do for the top of your head.
The next thing you should do is keep it trimmed. Find your cheek line and trim the hair along that line with a razor. However, it’s best if you get this professionally done. Why? Because if your hair grows rapidly then this might be hard to find and you don’t want to hack at it. You’ll probably miss where you should cut and you won’t cut it evenly on both sides. Needless to say, that wouldn’t look good.
Another important concern is the neckline. Yes, the neckline. Again, this is something that you should consider getting professionally done because it will be very hard to make a nice equal line across by yourself.
Lastly, you should treat your facial hair EVERYDAY. Yes, gents. Everyday. Fortunately, applying this stuff is simple and isn’t expensive. After cleaning your face or taking a good shower, you just take a little bit of the oil and apply it around your facial hair. Not much. Just a drop or two. Next, just massage it around the area with hair. If you have medium length hair, you might want to use a brush to work it in.
Fairly simple, isn’t it? If you need help maintaining your professional look, or what to try a new style, come to Allanté! Contact us to setup an appointment with one of our stylists.
